Illinois Seeks $500M in State Budget for Quantum

The Chicago region, already known for its concentration of quantum technology organizations, seeks to up the ante with the recent $500 million state budget request from Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. Perfect timing for the QED-C visit to the region for this week’s plenary meeting.

With four universities, two national laboratories and a growing cluster of quantum startups, Gov. Pritzker is striving to boost the state’s economy and job market through both state funding and federal funding. The Governor’s budget request includes $300 million for a new campus featuring a cryogenic facility.

Many of the region’s quantum tech organizations are members of QED-C and several Chicago regional quantum leaders have been tapped to speak at the upcoming QED-C Plenary Session on the Northwestern University campus, March 20-21. Several quantum startups, graduates from the University of Chicago’s Duality accelerator, will present updates on their companies.

TAC Webinars NL

One of the many benefits of a QED-C membership is access to the six Technical Advisory Committees (TACs), small groups that each have a different focus area relevant to the quantum industry.

Whether or not you’ve already joined a TAC, we encourage you to watch two recordings of webinars held last month that describe plans for the year. Hear what each TAC is doing, when they meet and how to get involved.
