This week, explore QED-C’s new report on U.S. Federally Funded Quantum Infrastructure and the latest QTech Workforce Monitor, which examines September’s rise in job postings and what regional differences mean for workforce planning. Hear from Steering Committee candidates at our Annual Business Meeting on October 14 and make plans to share insights and connect with colleagues at QX this November.
How Can U.S. Quantum Infrastructure Better Support Commercialization?
How well does federally funded infrastructure support quantum technology development today? QED-C's new report draws on a landscape review, site visits, provider interviews, and a survey of more than 300 experts representing 137 organizations.
The assessment finds substantial U.S. capabilities across research, fabrication, prototyping and testing, but fragmented access and limited support for process development, packaging, validation and scale-up. Five recommendations focus on improving discoverability and access, closing critical capability gaps, strengthening testing, and helping promising technologies move toward commercial production.
Explore how we can make U.S. quantum infrastructure more visible, accessible, and coordinated!
Meet the 2027 QED-C Steering Committee Candidates:
The candidate slate is set! Two leaders will join the QED-C Steering Committee in January 2027 to help guide QED-C's strategic direction and represent the consortium's diverse community.
Hear from the candidates at the Annual Business Meeting on October 14.
QTech Workforce Monitor: New Job Postings Show Inflection in Near-Term Activity
New quantum job postings rose 24.9% globally in September, according to preliminary data from QED-C’s latest QTech Workforce Monitor. North America and Europe drove the increase, while postings in the rest of the world declined—a reminder that talent needs are evolving differently across regions.
The report places September’s gains in context, examining longer-term trends alongside monthly fluctuations. For hiring leaders and workforce partners, the findings underscore the value of tailoring plans to regional conditions and staying flexible as demand changes.

Fall Special Registration Ticket Pricing for QX has been extended through October 19th!
Before November’s meeting, participants will receive the Discovery Brief, a QED-C member-informed look at the issues and areas of tension across the industry. At QX, we will build on those insights, bring forward additional challenges, and help identify where coordination can remove bottlenecks and close gaps.
Those discussions will shape the Quantum Coordination Agenda, which will guide future QED-C work and help focus the broader quantum ecosystem on the priorities that matter most.
Join us in Tucson and make sure your organization is part of the conversation.

Quantum Computing Resources for Learners: Systems to Build Your Skills October 21 | 3:00 PM ET Public Event
Curious about the quantum computing education platforms available today? Join representatives from PsiQuantum, Q-CTRL and Xanadu, along with QED-C Workforce TAC Vice Chair Gwen Leifer, for a practical look at who these platforms are designed for, how learners access them, and how their learning experiences are structured. Attendees will leave with a clearer sense of which tools may fit their students, teams, or training programs.
There’s still time to explore the U.S. Department of Energy’s Quantum Genesis Q Competition. The effort aims to accelerate development of a fault-tolerant quantum computing capability that can support scientific research and application development.
With the October 19 deadline approaching, interested teams should review the competition requirements and prepare their submissions.
New Release: Could Quantum Computing Make a Difference in Upstream Oil and Gas?
Where could quantum and hybrid quantum-classical approaches help address some of the oil and gas industry’s most demanding computational challenges? This report identifies five principal use cases across seismic imaging, modeling and simulation, and production optimization, while also looking closely at what it will take to prove value against continually improving classical methods.
The findings point to a practical path forward: focus on well-defined industry problems, test performance against established benchmarks, and build quantum capabilities into the workflows and systems companies already use. The report also outlines four recommendations for industry, government, and technology stakeholders working to move promising applications toward real-world evaluation.
Explore the use cases, recommendations, and next steps for quantum computing in upstream oil and gas.
How could quantum entanglement expand what’s possible in health imaging? The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) is inviting proposals through its UNifying Imaging with QUantum Entanglement (UNIQUE) program and anticipates making multiple awards.
Interested teams can review the funding announcement and supporting materials for proposal requirements, explore the separate Proposers’ Day notice, and check the program’s frequently asked questions for updates.
Explore the opportunity and learn how your team could contribute to the next generation of imaging.
